From understanding the lanugage of adolescents to learning how to handle a crisis situation, the training seminars below, plus other seminars currently in development, will help families, youth mentors, and counselors:

  • improve communication,
  • understand the role of technology in adolescent development and communication,
  • teach skills for handling family crisis, and
  • increase understanding of these skills through real-world examples.

Workshops are provided free of charge to organizations providing parent education (PTAs, church groups, girl scout/boy scout troops, foster parents, etc) and counselor training (school counselors, CEU seminars, conferences, etc).

BEHIND THE MASK

Adolescence is a time where teens often wear different identities for friends, families, teachers, etc., desperately seraching for a "mask" that is just the right fit.  What is "behind the mask" that teens today put on for their family, teachers, coaches, friends....slef-injury, substance abuse, depression, eating disorders, relationship abuse, family conflict?  This workshop takes an interactive approach to discussing many of the concerns that adolescents may be hiding behind that mask.  Through case study and practical application, we will discuss how to work with students to identify concerns and direct the individual to resolution by addressing problem solving skills, chioces, life skills, stress management, etc.
