An LPC is a licensed professional counsleor.  In the state of Texas, an LPC is required to have a Master's Degree in a counseling related field  and must also complete a 3,000 hour supervised internship.

How long does counseling take?

Each session is 50 minutes in length.  The number of sessions you may need depends on the situation and is discussed on a continual basis throughout treatment.  I believe that your time, money, and situation are valuable and work with you to make your visits an affordable, viable option.

How much does counseling cost?

Counseling is a worthy investment and the cost should not be prohibitive; therefore, a sliding scale fee is provided.  I currently take some insurance and also provide any paperwork for out of network filing.  Payment method is cash, check or credit cards.

Do you really keep everything confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a number one priority.  There are rare legal/ethical exceptions where confidentiality may not be applied and these are discussed with you.

Why did you become a counselor?

I spent ten years counseling and mentoring families, individuals and couples in various volunteer settings in the church.  Out of that I discovered my passion and love for working with other people in emotional and practical ways and made a career change to counseling.

What if I feel apprehensive or ashamed to go to counseling?

These are common emotions that people feel when pursuing something new or uncertain.  People often hit roadblocks in life that require additional support, and counseling gives you that added support.  Counseling provides you a non-biased, listening ear; a place to focus on the self care that you deserve.

Is counseling really worth the cost?

Counseling is an investment and could arguably be one of the most important things you do for yourself, your family, your job, and your life.
